Max has had a busy summer at work, marking his first summer in post as a IT Network Manager and completing a period of significant progress behind the scenes.

While Max does not often share updates about his day-to-day professional work, this summer represented a major milestone.

Working within a small but growing IT team, he helped deliver a series of large-scale infrastructure and systems improvements designed to modernise technology across the school and strengthen long-term resilience.

Across the summer period, the focus was on future proofing, sustainability, and reliability. Key developments included modernising classroom technology, strengthening network security and redundancy, introducing new systems for asset management and printing, and upgrading devices to ensure compliance with current standards.

Alongside this, Max and his team also supported multiple schools with ongoing IT requirements.

A significant part of the work also centred on responsible recycling and donation of redundant equipment, ensuring hundreds of devices were repurposed to support charitable causes rather than going to waste.

Reflecting on the summer, Max acknowledged the scale of the work delivered in a relatively short period of time and credited the wider team effort behind the progress made. With the foundations now in place, the focus moves to continuing development and ensuring the school benefits from modern, reliable, and sustainable technology going forward.

" I don’t normally post about work, but as I’ve just completed my first Summer as a Network Manager, I wanted to share what has been an incredibly busy and productive summer.

With my team of originally 2 including myself moving to 3 at the very end of the Summer we managed to achieve some huge projects that will make a real difference to the school:

  1. Built and deployed over 200 Windows 11 Machines with 256+ monitors unpacked and set up, we are now Windows 11 Compliant

  1. Installed a new backup line for redundancy

  1. Rolled out a brand-new firewall system for greater in-house control

  1. Re-cabled 5 classrooms, future proofing them and repairing existing ones

  1. Implemented a follow me print solution, replacing all printers with a more practical and efficient setup total of 15 Printers

  1. Installed 5 interactive whiteboards, moving away from projectors and modernising classrooms

 7. Supported 4 other schools with new users, leavers, and ongoing IT needs

With the help of SPC Group, recycled/donated nearly 300 machines (plus monitors, keyboards, mice, and cables) to charity

It’s been a huge team effort, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved in just one summer. Excited to keep moving the school forward with modern, reliable, and sustainable technology."
